A | The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Aditya Dhar's film, Dhurandhar, after informing the Delhi High Court that it bears no relation to Major Mohit Sharma. The film, starring Ranveer Singh, has been granted an A certificate, and details regarding its runtime, story, and other aspects have now been revealed. According to the CBFC website, Dhurandhar has been granted an A certificate and has a runtime of 214.1 minutes (3 hours 34 minutes 1 second). This makes it the longest film in Bollywood, 17 years after the release of Jodha Akbar in 2008, and marks Ranveer's first A-rated film. The film's synopsis is available on the website, and it states: “After the hijacking of IC-814 in 1999 and Parliament attack 2001, India’s Intelligence Bureau Chief - Ajay Sanyal devices an indomitable mission to intrude and rupture the terrorist network in Pakistan, by infiltrating the underworld mafia of Karachi. Meanwhile a 20-year-old boy from Punjab held captive for a revenge crime, is identified by Sanyal.” Before granting Dhurandhar an A certificate, the CBFC requested certain edits and alterations to the film. As reported by Bollywood Hungama, the filmmakers were asked to include a voiceover for the Hindi disclaimer, which eventually extended its length. Disclaimers regarding anti-drug and anti-smoking messages were incorporated into several scenes. Visuals depicting violence were removed and replaced with alternative shots at the start of the film. The CBFC also requested the filmmakers to reduce violent visuals in the latter portion of the film and to mute a cuss word. The name of a character portraying a minister was changed. Additional music and scenes were added in the end credits during the censorship process. Before the release of Dhurandhar, the parents of the late Major Mohit Sharma, a recipient of the Ashoka Chakra, filed a case in the Delhi High Court against the film's producers. The High Court eventually instructed the CBFC to address the concerns raised by the parents. Their petition aimed to prevent the release of Dhurandhar, as the film was being advertised as 'inspired by true events', and its story reportedly had elements of Major Sharma's character, military operations, and sacrifice. The CBFC conducted a reconsideration and eventually informed the court of their decision to reject the family's objections. They concluded that the film does not bear any resemblance to the life, service, or experiences of Major Sharma. Also Read: Major Mohit Sharma’s brother reacts after CBFC clears Dhurandhar。
